Updated Guarding And Safety Circuitry System:

The Hasko FSM and FSP now incorporate a "state of the art" Guarding and Safety Circuitry System designed to provide a very high level of safety for your operators without sacrificing production.

The FSM control package incorporates circuitry for the five cutterheads utilizing two safety rated relays per cutter head unit wired in compliance with ANSI B11.19 and OSHA 1910.147 regarding Risk Category 3 and "Alternative measures" where safe jam clearing is required.

The use of dual channel safety relays and expansion modules coordinated with zero speed sensors for all cutter heads in conjunction with solenoid activated access door locking switches, prevent operator access to dangerous areas while the machine is running and during orderly shutdown.

    These upgrades include:
  • Addition or alteration of many point-of-contact guards
  • A zero motion detector which prevents the front access panels from being opened until all rotating parts of the machine are completely stopped
  • Installation of a small jib crane to facilitate the safe handling of cutter heads
  • Hinged guard covering front access to the center match roll and side head cutter exposures
  • 10" extension for the rear or right side head vertical adjustment
  • Barrier guards have been added at two points at the rear of the machine. Each guard is permanently mounted to the floor and the machine is equipped with hinged access doors.

All of the foregoing parts are field-installable for all existing FSM and FSP models. Contact us at 423-648-5200 for further information.

Key Advantages of the FSM MatchMaster Over
Waco, Weinig, Woods 502, Yates American A-23,
    And Other Flooring Side Matchers

  • A proven machine. Over four dozen Hasko FSM MatchMasters now in service, setting all-time new production records typically within the first few weeks.

  • With the FSM's exclusive Quick-Clear System, average down time due to jams and hang-ups is usually limited to 20 - 30 seconds. To the best of our knowledge, no other machine incorporates this unique feature.

  • As our customers will testify, the Hasko FSM MatchMaster regularly out-produces Woods 502’s, Yates A-23s, and Waco---even at the same rates of feed. The Quick-Clear system combined with the machine's ability to successfully pass mismanufactured low grade lumber (that would otherwise be lost) gives you a profit margin edge of 30, 45, 60 extra production minutes a shift.

  • The FSM MatchMaster consistently passes lower grade and defective lumber that many customers identify as not being at all possible by a Waco, Weinig, 502, or the A-23.

  • The FSM MatchMaster is designed for high feed rates and will provide a superior quality product at high speed with 16 knives in the lower cylinder. Built-in top and bottom head jointers facilitate jointing knives while running product.

  • State-of-the-Art hydraulic repositioning and locking of the top cutterhead and left sidehead, as opposed to making adjustments by outdated mechanical hand cranking.

  • No gears, sprockets, or chains in the feed drive. This means the hydraulic feed is forgiving in the event of a severe crash that would damage other machines, and also will incur lower maintenance costs as compared to other flooring side matchers.

  • Our programmable control logic, inverter drive controlled motor braking, and modern touch screen panel offers both safety and protection while ensuring the highest quality product.

  • The FSM MatchMaster is maintenance friendly and offers easy accessibility to working parts. It can be serviced without major disassembly as opposed to the Waco, Weinig, 502, and the A-23.

  • The Hasko MatchMaster has a much shorter operator learning curve and our technicians fully understand the intricacies of the flooring industry and can communicate one-on-one with your operators. It can usually be installed into an existing line during a long weekend or 3-4 workdays.

  • Replacement parts are similarly priced to those of a Woods 502, Yates A-23 and considerably cheaper than Waco and Weinig. Many replacement parts are "off-the-shelf" items.

  • Manufactured by a company with a proven track record of rebuilding flooring machinery as well as all types of woodworking machinery. We incorporated this knowledge into the design of the Hasko FSM MatchMaster

  • The MatchMaster has earned widespread praise from experienced operators. Many can be quoted as saying that they "have run them all...including the WACO...and nothing can match the production...and quality of milling".

It is described best by a customer: "…after installing your HSEM-C EndMaster and operating it at 225 lugs per minute we saw within two weeks that our Waco sidematcher could not keep up. We purchased your Hasko MatchMaster with the StripMaster pre-surfacer and increased production by 18% after only our first month of production. Everything we have been told about the MatchMaster is true. It will run more flooring and make better flooring than anything I know of!" …Doug Fikes, Buchanan Hardwood Flooring, Aliceville, Alabama.

On January 21, 2005, Doug further announced that his second shift had achieved a NEW PRODUCTION RECORD of 300,000 lineal feet in 9.5 hours. First shift that same day had run 292,000 lineal feet. That's almost 600,000 lineal feet of flooring in ONE DAY!

  • Want to Know More About Why the FSM MatchMaster is
"The Most Productive Flooring Machine in the World"?

For most mills, the throughput and efficiency advantage of the MatchMaster can mean the difference of 30, 45, or 60 minutes a shift added production over any other machine in the world! All you have to do is get wood to it, and get wood away from it. Put your pencil to it. This can mean big dollars---that go right to the bottom line!

You may ask how the Hasko FSM MatchMaster does this.

Throughput and Efficiency! When the shift is over, this machine will have had less down time due to hang-ups and jams, and achieve more throughput than any other machine on the market. This is fact. How is this possible? First, it simply does not hang-up or incur wood jams, like other machines! Our design efforts sought to make this machine as closely coupled as possible and to ensure that stock is well captured while being processed. It passes wood through that won't pass through other machines.

Through the use of pneumatically tensioned upper rolls and our unique hydraulic feed drive system, the MatchMaster delivers a "soft touch" yet it maintains the feed torque that is required by a flooring side matcher to feed ripped, rough hardwood flooring stock. Most importantly, the MatchMaster incorporates our exclusive Quick-Clear system. Should a jam occur the operator can clear and restart production in less than a minute. We are talking about any normal everyday jam or hang-up - - - lapped wood, broken wood, wedges, thin stock, etc. It makes no difference whether the hang up is in the infeed, outfeed, at the top head, side heads, hollowback---any locations or all locations. This is worth repeating: "You can clear and restart production in less than a minute." And it positively re-sets to its previous position! Right On Every Time.

Quality of Milling and Accuracy of Finished Product:

When it comes to milling hardwood strip or plank flooring at speeds in excess of 200 lineal feet per minute, the MatchMaster will meet or exceed the accuracy of dimensional product produced by any other machine available for this application.

How is the face work? It is excellent! The number of knives cutting, cylinder RPM, feed speed and the machine's ability to "capture" the wood determines finish. The holding ability of the MatchMaster is second to none. The special hydraulic rigidity of the top cutterhead yoke and pressure bar assembly promotes extremely tight tolerances and high quality finish. Universally known as our "Harley-Lock" system, the FSM maintains rock solid position on all cutterheads!

The quality of face work can be dictated by you based on the feed speeds that you wish to run and the number of knives requested for your MatchMaster The standard machine is supplied with 12 knife bottom cylinders and top cutterheads and optional up to 16 knives top and bottom. The MatchMaster has top and bottom jointers built in. Jointing can be performed while running product if needed. With a 16 knife, jointed bottom cylinder and 4800 RPM direct coupled motors, you can expect approximately 11.6 knife marks per inch at 550 feet per minute, 14.2 marks per inch at 450 feet per minute, 21.3 knife marks per inch at 300 feet per minute, and 25.6 knife marks per inch at 250 feet per minute.

Most flooring manufacturers consider 10-12 knife marks per inch good finish. Don't be fooled by false claims from other machinery manufacturers into believing, as if by some unknown technology, that their machines provide superior finish. Remember that finish is a function of combined factors such as jointed knives, number of knives cutting, cutterhead rpm, and feed rate.

    Toughness and Durability:

The Hasko FSM MatchMaster is truly a "Heavy-Built". Our experience in the flooring industry has shown us what fails, and why it fails. This is readily evidenced in our design. This machine will incur less down time due to broken or failed components than other machines on the market. There are no gears, chains, sprockets, or other expensive, high-wear special components that are commonly used in other brands. With a goal of "dedicated simplicity," our engineers have designed the FSM so that many of the parts can be purchased off- the- shelf from your industrial supply house.
